After 74 years of sleep-away camp, the Diabetic Youth Foundation was pleased to offer our first ever Summer Day Camp program for children and families affected by type-1 diabetes. We had a great turnout in July 2011.

In its second year, DYF ’s Summer Day Camp will be the highlight of your child’s summer. If they wish, campers can bring a buddy—a friend or sibling with or without diabetes—to enjoy the summer camp activities with them and to learn about their condition. Camp songs, skits, arts & crafts, nature, and a field trip are all part of the fun for every child. In addition, the days include learning about diabetes and meeting new friends who experience the same challenges from living with diabetes. There is much fun to be had by all!

Ages: Completion of Kindergarten through completion of 6th grade. Open to Children with diabetes and an optional super buddy (friend or sibling) too.

The 3½-day class is recommended for people who require insulin to control diabetes. This includes individuals with newly diagnosed or longstanding type 1 diabetes and many people with insulin-treated type 2 diabetes.

Participants attend classes on 4 consecutive days. The workshop meets for ½ day on Monday and all day the following Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. A family member is encouraged to attend.

Kick Off the 2012 Walk to Cure Diabetes event season with JDRF at T1D Night with the San Francisco Giants. This jam packed evening of fun starts with a JDRF tailgate and short program, then we will all head over to AT&T Park to sit is a special JDRF section to watch the World Champs battle the Colorado Rockies.

To join in on the fun here is what you need to do:
• Register for the Kick Off
• Register for any one of JDRF’s destination Walks
• Jump start your fundraising by raise $35 per person attending T1D Night with the SF Giant. Every dollar raised will count towards your fundraising total

Tailgate will take place in Lot A from 5:00pm – 7:00pm and first pitch takes place at 7:15pm.

Aug 12, 2012: DYF Camp de los Niños (6 Days) at Camp Campbell in Boulder Creek, CA

Ages 7-17. Kids looking for an independent camp experience will find this week long camp filled with adventure, fun and friendship. Campers are grouped together with other kids their own age and live in a cabin with counselors. In addition to diabetes
education, kids enjoy classic camp experiences such as swimming, arts & crafts, sports, games dance, campfires and more. We will partner with the Stanford medical team ensuring a safe, educational and fun camp experience for campers with type-1 diabetes. This program is a great option for kids who are looking for a shorter camp experience closer to the bay area. Come for the RUN...Stay for the PARTY!

The 5K Run/Walk kicks off with the singing of the National Anthem at 4:00 PM followed by an "after race" party until 8:00 PM.

Medals will be presented to the Top-3 Overall, the Top-3 in each Age Division, and the best-5 runners from the Top-3 TEAMS by Bob Anderson, the Founder of Runner's World magazine.

Live music by The Hitmen, an R&B/Motown band playing a variety of hits from the 70's to modern day favorites.

The party includes wine tasting from several local Santa Cruz Mountain wineries, great food, beverages, and a luxury car exhibit.

"B" on the Run will spotlight an all-star line-up of celebrities, athletes, health and fitness personalities, radio talk show hosts, TV media and a host of top-tier Silicon Valley sponsors.

Join "B" on the Run for a fun evening to raise awareness and funding for JDRF - type 1 diabetes, Girls on the Run of Silicon Valley, and the Los Gatos Athletic Association.

The JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes is fun and family-friendly, featuring plenty of entertainment, food, and kids’ activities.

Last year the Nevada Chapter welcomed over 3,500 people in the Southern Nevada community to "Walk to Cure Diabetes” at UNLV, raising nearly $560,000 to drive diabetes research.

Join us as a walker this year! You can raise funds by asking friends, relatives, and co-workers to sponsor you while participating in this non-competitive Walk. Companies can contribute through corporate sponsorship and by selling ‘paper sneakers’ for $1.00 to customers, or by creating their own Walk Team which provides innovative in-house programs and events with employees.
